We remember the 2005 as a cooler vintage: winter was characterized by cold temperatures and light snowfalls which contributed to a good water stock and a slight delay in the development of the buds. The summer months had average temperatures, with some rains in August and September which slowed down the ripening of the grapes. The remarkable nocturnal temperature variations throughout the month of September preserved the aromatic complexity of the grapes, also favored by the good ventilation of the open hills of Castelnuovo Berardenga. The harvest started the second week of September and ended on the 18th of October, brought excellent quality grapes to the cellar.

The wines from 2005 show an elegant character with remarkable finesse of aromas, a lively freshness and refined body. In the 2005, the Sangiovese expresses as its best the typical savoury and earthy character of the Berardenga’s terroir with a surprising aging potential.
